Perspectives

The other day while driving a couple of boys ages 7 and 5 that are in a car pool with us I thought about how our perspective influences our opinion.  Boy age 5 declared after coughing, "I've had this cough forever."  His older brother age 7 replied,  "No you haven't, it was just last week."   "Hack, hack, no way, I've had it since I was three!"   "You have not, you got it around Christmas."  "Cough, cough!"  You can imagine the rest of the ride with each young man emphatically defending his position without being swayed to the others opinion.

It caused me to think about how things really are verses how I think they exist.  Many times I have felt that different trials or weaknesses have been with me "forever" when in fact it may have been only since Christmas, relatively speaking.  Sometimes the perceived delay in getting over my problems has caused me to focus on the seemingly never-endingness of my situation. (Never-endingness is obviously not a real word but I was fresh out of those).   I really try to not get stuck heading in that direction but rather I choose to look forward with hope and trust in God that through him I can come to understand His perspective for my life.  As I have applied His truths to my life I have been  lead to healing and happiness.
