The Philosophy of an Acorn

From Sterling W. Sill  "The Miracle of Personality"

"An acorn may be smaller than the end of your thumb.  If it were broken open and carefully examined, only an unimpressively mealy substance would be found inside, with no discernible evidence of the acorn's miraculous future potential.

Regardless of our lack of understanding, if an acorn is planted in the soil under the right circumstances and left there alone in the darkness of the earth without any blueprints, directions, conversation or advisers, it will be able to extract from the soil, the water and the air all of the elements necessary to transform itself into a great oak tree, multiplying its original investment by a billion times.  Nor can we understand the added mystery of how the wood, branches, foliage, and roots are able to develop into something completely different than the seed from which they came."

Imagine what God can do with us, who are creatures that can act and not just be acted upon like the acorn seed.  "All things are possible to him that believeth."
